Now what?

EVERYONE is asking.... what happens next?
Well, surprisingly enough, we wait a little more. Just a little.
The next step is for the attorney to apply for a new birth certificate for Eliana. This will change her last name to Smith! This step is what takes a little time, and it varies depending on where the baby was born. She was born in Villa Nueva - any blog buddies know what the average turn-around there is?
Once that is done the attorney can apply for Eliana's passport.
(Sometime in here all of our documents are being translated into English.)
Then, the attorney submits our file to the US Embassy in Guatemala. They review our stuff and then (usually within 48 hours)give us an appointment. We may get a week's notice of when our appointment is, or we may get 3 days - who knows!? If you've ever seen other folks refer to having PINK, that is the PINK SLIP for the appointment.
When we hear that we have PINK, we will know when our appointment is and have to rush around to get flights and book a hotel all in a big hurry.
They say the average time from PGN out to travel is 2-4 weeks.
THEN, we fly down, get the baby, dance a happy jig, go to the embassy appointment, officialy become a happy family, dance another jig, apply for her Visa, get her visa, fly home, dance the happiest jig ever. The trip there should last about 4 days or so, depending on when in the week the embassy appointment falls.
I have heard that the wait may be closer to 4 weeks due to the holiday backlog. I don't know if this is true. Even if it is - our daughter will be home in a matter of weeks. WEEKS!!!

OK is it strange or what that we got our referral the same day, our babies live together, we visited the same time, we got out of PGN the same time, our babies were born in the same town, Mikayla likes to wear your daughter's clothes, and we will likely travel at the same time. WHOOO HOOOO for us. I think our daughters are best friends!
