Craziness and celebration
First: My apologies for being such a crappy blogger. I get really irritated when the blogs I like to read aren't updated frequently enough for my tastes, but I am totally lackadaisical when it comes to my own blog. What a jerk.
Wow, there has really been some confusion and craziness going on in the world of Guatemalan adoptions this week. Apparently there have been some issues with Guatemalan police harrassing foster mothers, particularly when they are trying to take the babies to the hotels for visits with their adopting families. The information going around is hard to decipher. Some agencies are reacting strongly, not only suspending visits, but also making the fostermoms stay at home with the babies so that they are not exposed to a potentially dangerous situation. Some agencies say there is really nothing new going on, that people are over-reacting. Our agency is not giving us a lot of information. They have suspended all visits for the time being, we don't know for how long. We can't get an answer as to whether or not they are allowing the fostermoms to take the babies out for appointments. We have friends (a couple we met in Guatemala) that were supposed to visit next week and our agency has asked them to postpone. It is really heartbreaking for families that have been looking forward to visiting their children and then have to cancel the trip. We don't know if this will affect our plans to visit in December. We are thinking that it is far enough away that it should all blow over by then and be safe to travel. Keep your fingers crossed!

Look at these little chicken legs!
We are really hoping that it is safe for the babies to go out for their appointments because we FINALLY got DNA AUTHORIZATION this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It only took a couple of months of continual mix-ups to get it - now lets pray that we can get the test done soon! Maybe this week? that might be too much to ask with the state of things in Guatemala lately. We'll see - tomorrow is UPDATE FRIDAY (the most beloved -and often hated- day of the week!) maybe we'll get some more good news!
I have been feeling like if we could just get the DNA authorization then things would start moving along for us.
Pray that this is so.

YIppeee!!! DNA authorization..... great news.
That really worries me about the police bugging the foster moms... Why does everything have to be so difficult? But I'm sure it will be cleared up by December. Have no fear...Cuz I'm going over in November and there's nothing gonna stop me..
I still say blue is her color.
