Catchin' up

What did we do this week?
I don't know... through the work week is a blur.... nothing exciting that I can think of. Well, we did have our Wednesday play date with Joseph. That is always a good time. E and J are really cute together and they are beginning to interact more. It's sweet.
Friday we went out to dinner. A friend of ours went with a small group to Peru this year (twice) to work with impoverished children. They spent time teaching them things like how to brush their teeth. These children were grade school aged and did not own toothbrushes. They spent a lot of time in the children's school which was the size of a garage with, like, 50 kids crammed in. Well, our friend Abby is working on raising money to buy land and to build these kids a new school! So when we went to dinner Friday it was a fundraiser for this project. They have lots of other things coming up, other fundraisers, so keep your eyes peeled - I'll keep you posted and let you know how you can help!
Saturday was our adoption agency's picnic. It was weird. And stressful. We did get to see our attorney and an agency worker from Guatemala who had come up for the occasion. We were really happy to see them and they were so glad to see Eliana and how much she has grown. That made it worth the trip. Otherwise, well, we broke out of the food line without even 1 hotdog in hand to make a break for the car. E was crying (unusual), we were anxious.... it was best to get outta there. Mindy and family - sorry we didn't get to spend more time with you.... hope to see you soon in another setting.
We headed home (2 1/2 hours) and went to the river front where they were having an African American Jubilee. After we'd heard enough of the *F* word and the *B* word while teen-aged girls danced, we got outta there, too. What a weird day. Luckily we had friends over that night to salvage the rest of the evening.
Today was great! We have been wanting to attend a Spanish-spoken mass but hadn't been able to find one nearby. Well, last we found out that a priest we love (he married us) was having Spanish masses 2x/month in my old church! We went today for the first time and had a really nice time. I have been feeling like we haven't been doing a great job of keeping Eliana connected to her Latino heritage and this is a step in the right direction, again. It will help Matt and I with our Spanish, too. And we hope to make some new friends - so, hooray!
Here are a few pics from the picnic:

Sorry the picnic was stressful for you. We left right after the group photo...Mikayla was DONE. Plus we had family we had to get home to meet up with. We didn't do the food last year either so we knew not to attempt it this year. We waited in line for 45 minutes last year and left. LOL. Kris was HUNGRY. It was so nice seeing Sharon and Veronica and I looked for you guys to say goodbye but didn't see you anywhere:-( We will meet up again sometime!
Hugs
