Beheaded
That's what I look like - as though someone began cutting off my head, changed their mind and stapled me back together. I'll spare you the pictures (because I know it grosses people out) but just know that the 5-6 inch scar at the base of my throat is crazy looking.
I get the staples taken out tomorrow. Until then I'm keeping it covered with gauze so as not to traumatize my kids. As it is, every time Abigia sees me she asks why I have a booboo on my neck.
The kids are trying hard to be gentle with me, though I still have to hide away upstairs periodically through the day if I get sore or tired or just irritated by noise. I think this is what old people feel like - just a low threshold for irritating behaviors that don't center around them. It would stink to feel like that all the time.
I think I'm doing great, if I do say so myself. I've been helping do some light stuff around the house and am moving my neck a lot more each day. I have to take this next week off from work, so am hoping to be able to get some (gentle) spring cleaning done.
Matt is the sweetest husband ever and has been taking special care of me. I love him so much. I am really lucky.
and now I'm crying.
We've been blessed with good friends and family. Thanks to Katie, MaryAnn, Jill, T, Mary and Mom for help with childcare throughout this whole experience. Thanks to Mom, Katie, Esther and MaryAnn for good foods so we don't have to cook for a few days. Thanks to Tia, Mom, Judy and Unkle Pak for hanging with Matt during surgery and me afterwards. Thanks to all of our family and friends for the many prayers, well-wishes and kind thoughts over the past 2 months.
Time for breakfast!
Happy Sunday everyone! Hug your loved ones!

I'm so glad you are doing well. It's so nice that you can just "get away" if you need to...if only we could do that everyday!
So glad things are going pretty well and you aren't feeling too awful. Recovery with children is rough! Take care and big props to Matt for being a great hubby/dad!
love and hugs to you - in my prayers:)
So glad you are doing okay! Wish I lived closer so that I could make you some dinners.... Hope you continue to mend quickly and that the hormones stay stable -- those darn thyroids (or lack of) can really bring on the waterworks (at least for me...)
