HOORAY!!!!!!!!!
Finally, we got a message today that Eliana is out of the hospital!
Apparently she was in for at least 10 days longer than she medically needed to be because the hospital social worker hadn't signed off on her case. Whatever - we're just happy that she's out and the next steps in the process can get going.
What are those steps? you might ask. Well, they need to do the DNA test between Eliana and the birthmom. This is a US requirement and our agency requires this to be done, and positive results come back, before we can go to visit. I am so hoping that this is done QUICKLY so we can get down there. We wanted to visit pretty badly before, but after all of these medical scares we are even more strongly needing to see our daughter. We are hoping to be able to visit in September...
They should be starting the Family Court process, too. This is a report written by a social worker that reviews the situation, interviews the birthmother, and I don't know what else. This can be happening at the same time as the DNA stuff is being done.
To celebrate Eliana's release from the hospital we went shopping today! We are going to work on that care package this week and get it sent down ASAP. We bought a few little outfits, a stuffed animal to send (and 2 to keep), a rattly chewy toy, and a book. We are also planning to make our tape of songs and stories to send. Throw in a couple of disposable cameras and a letter to the foster mom and we'll be ready to mail! Oh wait, and that blanket we have for her... and some pictures of us..... It's hard to choose what all to send. I'm thinking that we can send some stuff now, then take a few more things when we go.
We desperately hope for updated pictures soon. We'll share as soon as we can!

Oh my goodness, you guys have been through a lot. I will keep your little precious one in my prayers. I'm sure you can't wait to go and hold her in your arms!
It's so great to hear something positive! Someday she will read and hear about how much anticipation there was for her arrival and feel so special.
Love and prayers,
Renea
